economizing starts in the bathroom

Here's a nifty tip from a very enthusiastic discussion on whether there's a right and wrong way to put toilet paper on the holder.

I know we're all trying every way possible to cut costs these days, so I just wanted to share that there's an economics angle to this debate - apparently, toilet paper that rolls from the bottom (i.e., commonly known as the "wrong way") can make us use less toilet paper. Makes sense - having toilet paper roll from the top ("right way") does make one get more than what he needs. Maybe the waterfall-like image somehow registers as "abundance" or maybe it's just easier to pull a lot more sheets that way.

The cat-angle was also covered by those who favor the "wrong way" which I can totally relate to. Now, when your cat decides to have fun with your roll, you're in for some major wastage. Figaro has outgrown that habit already, but still it wouldn't hurt to put it backwards, for my own economics.

I'm-a try it right now.
