"Holy haberdashery, Batman!"

Forget the brooding Wolverine and his non-CGI muscles for a while. Peyups'* resident caped crusader, Batman (as he is popularly known) can put a smile on your face, as UP* students and joggers who frequent the academic oval would probably know.
You'd usually find him in the sidelines, sitting on the sidewalk or standing at a corner, motioning his hands as if to show pedestrians their way. Clad in shorts, rainboots, a cape, a mask, and two toy swords sheathed on either side of his hip, you would think he's our garden variety superhero. If you see him often enough, though, you'll notice he sure knows how to tweak his costume for an occasion.
Last year, around June/July, he was spotted sporting an Independence Day-themed outfit, with the Philippine flag for a cape. Yesterday morning, as an obvious shoutout to the Pacquiao-Hatton fight that was to start a few hours later, he was standing in the middle of the road in front of the Music building, trading his usual footwear for a pair of sports shoes, with complementary elbow and knee pads and... oversized boxing gloves.
Now I don't remember anymore if he normally wore boxing gloves as part of his ensemble, but he certainly gave it more pizzazz yesterday. There was one jogger who jokingly circled and threw air punches at him. He didn't budge and remained tall and invincible-looking, and made a 360-degree turn for his amused Sunday audience.
